We work according to a unique corporate governance model for Kazakhstan: the highest body is the Intergovernmental Plenipotentiary Council in Ankara, where both sides are represented on equal terms. Five members of the Council, including the President-Rector, are appointed by the Government of Kazakhstan, five by the Government of Turkey. Financing is provided from the republican budget of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the budget of the Republic of Turkey.
The University adheres to European academic standards: in 2007, a Memorandum of Accession to the Bologna Declaration was signed, and in 2010, the Magna Carta of Universities. The curricula cover natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, economics, law, medical and technical sciences, education, business, services and the arts. There are 54 bachelor's degree programs, 30 Master's degree programs, 11 PhD doctoral programs, 3 residency programs and 7 internship programs.
There are about 10,000 students, interns, undergraduates and doctoral students in the university community. Approximately 15% of our students are from Turkic—speaking countries near and far abroad. Every year, the Government of Kazakhstan allocates 200 targeted state grants for applicants from Turkic-speaking countries, and by decision of the Intergovernmental Council, 500 grants are provided from the Turkish budget for Kazakhstani applicants with high UNT scores who did not qualify for general government grants.
The teaching staff combines experience and internationality. In the 2018-2019 academic year, we employed 71 Doctors of sciences, 282 candidates of Sciences and 67 PhD, including visiting teachers from Turkey and other countries. The training is conducted in four languages: Kazakh, Turkish, Russian and English, which makes the university an open platform for academic mobility and intercultural dialogue.
The Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University is an interstate university established by Kazakhstan and Turkey to train specialists in international academic standards. The University is located in the city of Turkestan and is one of the largest educational centers in the region, bringing together students from different countries.
The training programs cover a wide range of fields, including humanities, social sciences, economics, law, medicine, and engineering. The University offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs, which makes it a full-fledged platform for higher and postgraduate education. The educational process is built taking into account modern requirements and is focused on practical training of specialists.
The training is conducted in several languages, including Kazakh, Turkish, Russian and English, which creates a comfortable environment for students from different countries and promotes academic mobility. A significant part of the students come from the Turkic-speaking countries of the near and far abroad, which forms a multinational student community and an active intercultural environment.
The University operates according to the corporate governance model and is funded with the support of the Governments of Kazakhstan and Turkey. This allows us to support the stable development of infrastructure, updating curricula and attracting qualified teachers. The teaching staff includes doctors and candidates of sciences, as well as invited specialists from other countries.
The International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmed Yasawi combines academic traditions and modern approaches to education. It is focused on training specialists who are in demand both nationally and internationally. The University plays an important role in the development of the educational and scientific potential of the region and remains a point of attraction for applicants interested in high-quality higher education.
